While we celebrate Thomas Jefferson as an architect of American freedom, he also possessed a passion for design that he applied to ambitious projects, such as his beloved Monticello estate and the nearby University of Virginia. Jefferson’s neoclassic sensibility took a sensual turn as Ambassador to France, where he was enthralled by the aesthetic splendors of Paris.
Our Jefferson collection captures both the flourish of French-inspired design and the uncluttered freshness of new-world style. Curvaceous arms join teardrop balusters, inspired by the gilded iron gates surrounding the palatial Château de Versailles. Shapely bobeches recall the many fountains of Paris, while acorn finials add the classical touch so prized by the Founding Father.
